Swinging a 16 pound sledge. Deadly accurate. You could put two pennies on top of that metal post, and she would ask: "Which one do you want me to hit?"

Never afraid of hard work, this was no wimpy girl!

We pay homage to the veterans that courageously gave of their lives - and often their lives - to preserve the freedoms that we daily take for granted.

Looking at the names and pictures on the wall, I knew three WW2 veterans, and my tears went to these men and their comrades.

"The Angel of Death then took her by the hand, and led her to the other side; to be free in the summerlands; to be purified and to run through the meadows and flowers; like a little girl in the bloom of spring."
